St. James's Hospital, St. Jamess Hospital or St. James' Hospital? The first appears on many road signs in Leeds; the second is silly & the third is correct, if my recollection of English language lessons 60 years ago hasn't been corrupted by age.

Your first is almost correct.
It’s St James's University Hospital.

Precision was the real issue at some point. Its just clear that something is not vivid.

Re: THE MYSTERY OF THE MISSING APOSTROPHE???
Several years ago when I worked in Leeds, I reversed my car into a street sign.
I put the sign into the car boot and took it back to my office.
Stood in front of a secretary holding the street sign across my chest, I asked her to contact Highways to explain what I had done.
Tell them that the nameplate was not damaged, a we would pay for replacing it.
Half way through typing the letter, she said 'where did it happen?'
