I haven't seen or heard of Turog or the tiny loaves for many years but you can still buy normal sized Hovis loaves.
Hovis also had a memorable classic TV advert with the boy on the bike and the steep hill.
It used to be said that the statue of the Black Prince had been placed in City Square , near the station, pointing South to tell all the southerners who've just got off the train to b****r off back down south!

I remember old Hovis TV ads, such as "Hovis, Hovis, eight times more wheatgerm in Hovis. Hovis is the best brown bread."
Mrs JMA's maiden name was Brown and in her teens at school was nicknamed "Hovis" as a consequence of the "Don't just say Brown, say Hovis" commercials
