Thanks for sorting out the site- I am dyslectic so everything looked normal to me :D
Can anyone help me understand the new graphics

Recent topics what do the symbols mean?
Circle with and without red star?
Inside the circle text or flames?

Main Forums
Blue circle (no unread posts)
Red circle ( unread posts) how do I find them?
I haven't worked out the red star yet. The circle with the text is just a default image for a thread, I think, but the flame indicates a hot topic (a lot of posts/recent posts or possibly a lot of views).

For the unread posts in the main forums it is, unfortunately a matter of searching that particular forum. In some cases it might just be a recent thread but in others it could be a thread you never bothered looking at years back. If you just want to highlight unread posts going forward you can mark all the posts in a forum read by opening it and selecting "mark topics read" at the top or bottom of the list of threads in that forum. I suspect if you have just cleared cookies it may well have made pretty much all the forums as having unread threads for you.

I did see BS had posted when submitting mine but I left it so as to highlight the method of marking forums read.

Red Star simply means posted

Thanks for that , much appreciated.
I have deduced that a red star indicates a topic which I have made a contribution?

Two of my favorite topics have disappeared from the lists
Other Stuff- General Chat Coal Mines in Leeds started Friday Jan 18th 2008
Buildings and Structures - Foundry Mill started Thursday November 24th 2015
I can find them with a google search, but cannot see them on the Secret Leeds site.
Is there an explanation?

I don't seem to be able to find the search facility that was on Secret Leeds.

Hi Leodian & warringtonrhino

You can always do a site specific search in Google ( or your favourite search engine)

Just put your search terms in the Google search box followed by this " site: www.secretleeds.com "

examples are :-
coal mines in Leeds site: www.secretleeds.com

foundry mill site: www.secretleeds.com

The search results will be filtered to show results matching your search terms from the SL website.
Click on the links and it takes you straight to the topic you are looking for.

This was always better than the search facility included on the site which the recent changes appear to have removed.

It used to be said that the statue of the Black Prince had been placed in City Square , near the station, pointing South to tell all the southerners who've just got off the train to b****r off back down south!
