East & West Yorkshire Union Railway - E&WYUR - Rothwell

Post by darrenhosker »

Hi Everyone,
I am currently working on a YouTube series, that explores the old route of the East & West Yorkshire Union Railway. I have already made the section to Lofthouse & Robin Hood, and that is live on my channel now as below.

I am looking for any images/photographs, information or stories about the line. It could be about any section and abandoned or in full service.

Anything will be much appreciated, I have already done a lot of research and collected tonnes of information. But nothing like asking people who live in the area for their recollections or personal pictures they may have.

Especially interested in photographs of the following;
Robin Hood/Leadwell Lane Bridge
Robin Hood Station
Robin Hood Engine Shed
Lofthouse Cutting
Stourton Station
Rothwell Sections

CHECK OUT THE SERIES BELOW

Hi Darren.
I think I must be the only person living now that worked on the EWYU at
Robin Hood stn sort of 1962/63 ish aged around 17.

Hated the place and the type of clerical work done there.

No photos(thank goodness) but I will knock something together and
post it on this site

Thank You, that would be amazing.

The Station is right at the side of my house now, so it's really fascinating stuff. I heard it was a bit tatty and run down. I just can't find much out about the station itself. Like the building layout, where the paths were at the back and how you accessed the platforms, maybe you will know?

If you watch my Robin Hood Station video and the Robin Hood Triangle video, you will see I have lots of unanswered questions that you may be able to answer? Like what the large tower was to the top right of the triangle, and what was the building i found in the middle of the trees in the triangle.

Yeah I've seen them maps, and I have pictures of the Station. Buy they are all from the front and the same angle.

Have you tried the National Railway Museum? They tend to have load of plans of stations, track layouts etc etc from over the years.

Just thought it was a coincidence when you said what year you were there and the fact there was a young trainee at the station about your age.

Hi DogDuke,

Just been asked by the photographer to ask you these questions if you remember.

How many clocks were there at Robin Hood Station, and where were they?

Did you know David Johnson?

Can you remember the name of the station master who was at Robin Hood at the time?

Darren
