Rodley Tomb Stone?

Cnosnihttp://www.calverley.info/fars_rehob_bur.htm Link for burials in Farsley Baptist cemetery.Part of Rodley is in the parish of Calverley (and in the old Borough of Pudsey) and part is in the pre-1974 City of Leeds in the parish of Bramley. The old boundary is the beck from Stanningley to the River Aire, now almost completely culverted. The Farsley Baptist cemetery is in the old Leeds city area at Bagley, as is the mysterious Rodley stone. Could it be a memorial to a pet dog?

Thanks to Inquirer for that link,sure it will come in handy at some stage.The shape of the stone is reminiscant of tomb stones mainly in the 18th century.Is it possible that it was such a stone that was not used for its original purpose and was utilised for what we see today?Some one out there must know.

Had another look at the stone today.The lettering is S.ST T.D,C. Looks like there could also be an N under the date. The full stops are obviously deliberately in those places. I wondered whether S.ST could = St Stephens? Glad everyones as baffled as me!

Right people, this just gets curioser and curioser. While out and about this morning i was walking up Pudsey road and noticed an exact replica of the Rodley stone. Same details as before - S.ST.T.D.C1862the stone is more worn than the Rodley one and unfortunately i only had my mobile phone on me but here are the pics

Are these boundary markers by any chance?Or I was thinking they could be placed by some eccentric similar the one on Carr Manor fields? Just a thought...

Yes LS1. That seems most likely. I think we can rule out grave markers (as there are two - or more? - identical) or re-used stones. Odd that the Rodley one doesn't appear to be on a boundary, though. Can anyone check the new stone on old maps? Where is it exactly?

im new to this site,i live at the top of coalhill lane,pulled up this morning to have a look.a great piece of history.the buildings around it are newish,so the builders would have been told by somone not to dig it up.would the leeds council planning office know what the stone was?just an idea.
