Re: Leodis website
I've just tried the Leodis website and it seems to be working fine now, so whatever caused the problem has been fixed.
I wonder if it could be blamed on the flooding as when I was in Marks & Spencer yesterday they could only accept cash or card payments but not vouchers (eg gift vouchers) due to a problem said to be caused by the flooding!

Re: Leodis website
There have been no new photos added to Leodis recently. The latest addition is a photo of Broad Lane, Bramley, which has been there for weeks, possibly months. Does anyone know whether the site is being maintained ?
It used to be said that the statue of the Black Prince had been placed in City Square , near the station, pointing South to tell all the southerners who've just got off the train to b****r off back down south!

Re: Leodis website
If, and clicking on the first 5 suggest it is, recent additions are displayed chronologically, the Broad Lane photo is from 23rd October. The image names seem to be in the format yyyymmdd_nnnnnn where the first part is the date and the second part is a sequential number, Broad Lane being number 175623 with the prefixed date 20151023.
It could be the sources of the photo's have dried up or that the indexer who uploads them is indisposed but the site is obviously being at least partially maintained because it was restored having gone down.
Edit to add URL http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... 023_175623

Re: Leodis website
It was 30/6 this year when I posted about Leodis passing the 60,000 mark,so another 146
is hardly progresss.
I asked Leodis by email quite some time ago about photos of Newtown where I grew up.
They said they had boxes of stuff yet to process for all over Leeds.
With huge budget cuts and job losses Leodis will be well down the pecking order.
Their home page mentions lottery funding, was this just for the set up costs or for ongoing projects?
Maybe they need to reapply for more funding, probably more worthy that some schemes funded
over the years.

Re: Leodis website
I have emailed them many, many hundreds of images of Leeds. They only have to put them on the site, but they haven't.Maybe they should pass the reins on to someone with more time? it's a shame as the website is great!

Re: Leodis website
Many years ago I used to spend a lot of time in the history library researching my book. At the time I was there they had more photos waiting to be cataloged, than were for public access. Sometimes I was allowed to look through the unsorted photographs to see if there was anything of interest. If I found one, and was able to confirm its location, it was put into catalogue. The problem was the librarians could not make a photograph public until they had identified its location, and they did not have the time to sort them out.
Could Secret Leeds members volunteer to do some of the detective work to identify the photographs, if the library can agree, it will benefit the library and our members. We cover all ages and areas and I would be happy to visit the library for a couple of days a month, to help.
