In the 80's there used to be a shop at Hyde Park corner on the Woodhouse Moor side called Dr Grotesque's. It's now called Oranaise (think it's a restaurant of some type).
I've often wondered what Dr Grotesque's sold. My mum would never take me in there and I used to be intrigued by it whenever we drove past.
It was a glass fronted shop with a yellow sign with the name on and under (something like) "Emporium of Curiosity"
Can anyone remember it and, more to the point, did anyone go in there and what did it sell?
Or am I going bonkers and it never existed!?
Thanks
James

It was always the Sorcerers Apprentice. The original shop is still at Burley Lodge Road.
They opened this as a second shop ,however after it was fire-bombed by Christian fundamentalists (following a Roger Cook program on non existent "Satanic Abuse"),the shop was closed. It was a pizza shop for a while.
Nobody was ever prosecuted for the attack as being occultists who were attacked the police didn't seem to deem it worthwhile investigating further.
