Thanks Happy Valley, I've been wondering what the wording was for years.Happy Valley wrote:This is my local junction and a very welcome sight after a long drive.
I have these ones of the Yorkshire Rose.
I don’t have any of the other side though.

Re: Lancashire/ Yorkshire M62 Border Stones
I used to work on breakdown recovery on this Yorkshire section a few years ago. I’ve worked quite close to both of them on the hard shoulder but I’ve never actually taken the time to read them.
I found the top two photos posted on a now defunct local Facebook group a few years ago, the third is just a crop I did of the plaque. I think I also have some old motorway construction photos from around Ainley Top and Scammonden Dam area somewhere if anyone is interested.
My friend grew up near to the exit ramp at Ainley Top and he tells me it was a great place for local lads to play cricket on until it finally opened.

It's interesting that the plaque refers to the Counties of Lancaster and York but the motorway as the Lancashire Yorkshire Motorway M62. If asked I would have wrongly said Leeds for example is in the county of Yorkshire, not in the county of York.

This is the westward plinth on the M62 at the Yorkshire Lancashire borderblackprince wrote:Good luck with that! AFAIK the monument is not accessible and you can't just stop on the hard shoulder to take photos.warringtonrhino wrote:LS1 wrote:But, does you can't just pull over onto the hard shoulder anyone know what it actually says?
