There is a wonderful and truly respectful greengrocer on the top row who I visit on my (now rare) visits. Close by was another stall which is no more, and no great loss. The response I got for simply stating the variety of apples I had selected and bagged was unbelievable. I duly suggested that he place them in a pyramid shape on his well used stool and slowly sat on them until they had all disappeared. No more of my business went there - little surprise he went under.
Morley market - those dates, not sure when he retired, but did you know Ronnie Connell?

Yes I knew Ronnie, his stall was a couple of shops away from mine. at that time Morley Market was less than half its present size and yet it had six greengrocers shops all thriving.

Tony and his two brothers were the "Enemy" as they were the joint largest greengrocers in the market. Their father used to come round in a variety of hats (disguise) every Friday morning with a notepad clocking my prices.

Wonder if Kirkstall Abbey is copyrighted/trademarked so he cant actually call his shop "Kirkstall Abbey Homebrew"?
