The map well shows much of the course of the goit running close to Tenter Lane and which passed very close to the junction of Briggate and Call Lane.

I've only had a quick look around and noticed an intriguingly noted 'Shafting Hole 3rd' just to the left of the '94'. I wonder what that was, or is if still there but covered over?

Could "shafting hole" refer to some form of drive shaft, say for a water wheel, or for an element of the machinery or transmission that such a wheel woud drive?

I've tried to orientate myself on the insurance map above. Assuming BBs is built on the site of the Kings mill the picture was taken from about the '93' looking in a straight line to the 'WHSE' on the South side of the Aire, which still exists as flats. That would make the wedge shape in the overhead picture of the excavation, the granary that connects Concordia Mills with Flay Crow Mills. The cut through at the pointy end being the entrance to the Flay crow mills yard. the straight trench would then be Tenter Street itself. The bit in the foregraound would be where Kings Mill goit passed under Tenter Street adfter living the pool exiting the Kings Mill. This may be total cobblers.

These are two photos that I have taken at the site that show the change between them. They were both taken from high up at the Q Park car park. The first was taken on January 26 2015 and shows the archaeological work was still in progress. The second was taken on March 10 2015 and shows that the work seems to have ended there and the site is being covered over.
