W&W No. 3247 (possibly)

Post by raveydavey »

This is a photo I took this evening, as the sun set over our fair city. The question is, where did I take it from..?

Hi raveydavey :) .

I think I recognise some of the buildings but not the very bright rectangular one (they really need to turn down its lights!). The Sun sets in about the SW at this time of year but I'm still unsure of where the photo was taken so I am only hazarding a guess at somewhere near Cross Green area. If I'm right of at least the general area then the brightest 'star' may be Mars.

If not somewhere very close.

I would say its looking across the south east of the city centre with the Kremlin on the far left, the eastern side of Beeston and Morley Town Hall on the horizon even if it does look disproportionately large. The other tall buildings on the left would be those alongside the A61 between Eastgate/Playhouse and Crown Point Bridge. The two bright lights in the centre aare possibly floodlights in the bus station.

What I would expect to see, and can't though, are the Parish Church (Minster) and the cranes on the Eastgate development

Congratulations Tilly - you're so close I'll give it to you. Its actually from Level 1 at the St James' car park. When I get 5 mins I'll tag the main buildings on the photo. The very brightly lit building is the Arena, and the Parkinson Building at the Uni should be obvious... :)
