On the Facebook page Andy Hutchinson and Michael White mentioned the Fire Insurance maps of Leeds. They're online at the British Library site and there is a treasure trove of info in them.

Thanks for that BJF . I've just had a look through just a few of the many maps brought up through the first link and the details are amazing (using the Zoomify facility greatly helps).
