These look as if they may be listed because they are 'fenced off' on the current Google StreetView. Or maybe that's just good old H&S. That row of houses on Hunslet Road has fascinated me for years, not least because of a bit of family history connected to them, but why are they still there ? Are they listed ? If so then why ? They don't seem to be of any architectural importance. They have been in a state of disrepair for decades. I wonder who owns them and if they are council houses then why not raze them and free up that land ? Maybe any new build on the old Tetley site could see them finally knocked down in a move to smarten up the area. I'm personally always in the business of wanting old buildings to be fully restored and inhabited, but that's just me. It pains me to see beautiful and historic old buildings razed to the ground for some more hideous office buildings.
Young 'uns that have no interest in the history of the place they grew up in....disgraceful.

I've done a bit of digging into the derelict places on Hunslet Rd/Sheaf St. The pub and cottages are owned by Carlsberg (or at least they were when they put the application in to demolish the brewery in 2011). According to comments on this Leodis photo (http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... SPLAY=FULL, the left cottage was owned by a firm of bank fitters called Wm Nicholson and Son Ltd and was partly used as accommodation by the company secretary and partly as offices. The right cottage was used by Tetleys. Despite being derelict the pub and houses are grade II listed, which probably explains why they are still (just) standing. There's a lot more about the houses at http://grandiosedecay.weebly.com/tetleys-houses.html. They also get mentioned in the South Bank Planning Statement at http://www.leeds.gov.uk/docs/South%20Ba ... b%20LR.pdf as being worth saving. It would be good to think that with the building college moving next door they might get adopted as a project on how to restore abandoned buildings but I'm not sure if anyone has suggested it.
