No deposit, the full amount. As i said Chris I was happy to pay for the room so your point about people having to stump does not apply. If people want to give me a donation that is fine,if they can't afford it but want to come ,no problem. The whole point is to get people along to meet and enjoy one anothers company which is why I paid for it. Jeez Steve i didnt realise you had paid all that up front, what is teh position with regards cancellation?

SL has recently attracted new members who have started interesting threads. Is there a mechanism to extend party invitations to them? I believe that if one is new to a group, particularly an on-line forum, one might be hesitant about attending a social function. A targeted email might just break the ice and give a wee bit of dutch courage. I know that I felt shy about attending our first birthday party way back then.

As I've never been to any previous Secret Leeds gatherings before I've no idea about how many numbers of folks have attended. I'd be surprised if there were under a dozen people as surely some folks will come with a friend / partner etc. Also I think it would be an idea to maybe post an open invitation for interested folks to come along if they wanted because they either know of the forum or they are interested in urban exploration / local heritage / history etc. Consistently I'm surprised at the amount of people who know about the Secret Leeds forum and who regularly read the forums but who seemingly dont contribute by way of writing threads or replying to other peoples threads. Over the past couple of years I've spoken to a few people who've told me about the Secret Leeds website, and then when I've told them I know about the forum and that I've written things on the forum these same people have then said "Oh, are you JonLeeds?", and I'm like "Yeah!"..! But like I've said a lot of people read things on the forum but either they arent registered so they dont reply, or they are just what we used to call 'lurkers', not that there is anything wrong with that. Its just a more passive way of using the forum byt passing a few hours reading about Leeds related stories and discussions like we have had on here for several years now. Many people are just quite happy to read about things which they will be familiar with as this is a local based forum and many of the topics discussed on here are about our own environment or shared heritage / collective memories etc. I dont know where to begin with how you'd advertise something like this, clearly you wouldnt want hundreds of people turning up expecting some kind of show / exhibition / seminar etc, maybe have a banner advert on the forum login page, or email all previously registered members of the forum as well as new ones?

The party is obviously open to all SL members plus their partners (though children not allowed in pub so no young offspring),At previous do's we have had lots of laughs finding out what we look like in the case of those not having pictures and swapping information about particular places, events etc.everyone gets a chance to speak if they want and traditionally Chris attempts to make fun of me<LOL>.
Steve JonesI don't know everything, I just like to give that impression!

Apart from last time (with the exception of a few early cheap shots!) when i'd already had a skinful prior to arrival (blame Mrs cnosni) and was then getting regularly "topped up" by Tilly, PC Dublin and the much missed Brandy whilst in the Vic.Im sure i will be far more civilised this time, though i cant promise there will be no leg pulling Steve
