In the list of television channels in the Freeview network there is a 'Made in Leeds' under Channel 8. Its description states "Launching soon with a blend of News, Current Affairs, Sports and Entertainment for Leeds".Currently it is just showing a short repeating feature showing some of the sights in Leeds. Does anyone know anything about this new channel as I don't seem to have heard of it before? It does seem to have got a very early place in the long list of channels.

Is this the end of the story ...or the beginning of a legend?

Here's your answer Leodian!http://www.localtv.org.uk/where-will-it-be/I hadn't heard of this, so thanks for flagging it up. It's not clear (I haven't looked at the full website) when it will be launching but I'm looking forward to seeing it Edited to add: buffaloskinner posted another reply while I was posting but since we gave different links I'll leave my reply here.

Cheers buffaloskinner and Tasa for your help. It came as quite a surprise to me when I saw it listed in the Freeview channels.

I was in Nottingham earlier this month and they now have a local TV station on channel 8 working out of the University. It was very good for local stuff and I hope the Leeds one will be as good when launched.

It will be on Sky 117 too when it launches. It will be worth a look, if only for the novelty value.

Leeds United - because there just isn't enough football on TV.I hope I'm proven wrong.

I've seen some Leeds channel somewhere on Sky satellites channels, the show times were limited to a few hours per day but each time I saw it they were showing a repeated programme about the history of Jews in Leeds?

It depends on the funding.I suspect it will be like the Notts TV channel I saw. That one has excellent coverage of the local music cene and in depth programmes on stuff that concerns nottingham together with coverage of local events like The goose fair. The programmes are repeated during the day as they don't have the funding to do full 24 hour a day programming each day.I agre with Jon that once it is up and running ,it wil be well worthwhile pitching an article on SL.The two lad would make a programme in themselves<LOL>
