1891 map.It just goes to show we didn't really loose any of the original market in the 1975 fire.

Phill. I have probably got hold of the wrong end of the stick again but the present market was not built till 1904

Because we do have part of the early Victorian market buildings that still survives in the market today. It's definitely the 1891 map herehttp://www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html

The photograph was taken the day after the fire and records the scene of devastation, as much of the market hall dating from 1857 was destroyed. Just for interest, the Game Row in 1947
