In information I've found it said the actual name of the cinema was 'The Picture House' but it was known as 'Harehill's Cinema'. As a cinema it opened on December 16 1912 and closed on October 5 1963, becoming a bingo hall. The following is a link to a photo in the Leodis website that has shows some of the cinema (the main object in the photo is a nice shot of a bus) and has interesting comments:- http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... AY=FULLFor myself I cannot however remember the cinema yet I readily recall and used to go to the close-by Clock and the not so far away Hillcrest, Vogue and Dominion cinemas. My lack of memory is worrying at times! The Harehills cinema began showing Asian films many years ago but i cant recall just when. it was on the left hand side of Roundhay road (maybe where the supermarket is now)

Looks like the old Odeon Cinema in the Merrion Centre is getting a new tenant after all these yearshttp://plandocs.leeds.gov.uk/WAM/doc/BackGround%20Papers-999452.pdf?extension=.pdf&id=999452&location=Volume4&contentType=application/octet-stream&pageCount=1
