Read in my paper about the death of Graham Walker. I've seen The Grumbleweeds many times over the years and I thought they were so talented. Graham and the boys were also excellent musicians/singers but, of course, it's for their comedy that they will be especially remembered.R.I.P.

My dad worked at Yorkshire Switchgear in Meanwood and I remember him saying that someone from the Grumbleweeds worked there too. My memory is shocking, maybe more than one Grumbleweed worked there?

Lovely chap, always good for a chat or a tale. One Christmas they were in panto in Blackpool and he managed to get back for last orders (the pub closed at midnight) every night. RIP.

[quotenick="Spackler"]Vic Reeves, real name James Moir - Born LeedsI'm presently reading Vic Reeves' autobiography first published in 2006 ("ME:MOIR Volume I"). Born at Jimmy's he lived at 20, New Adel Gardens until age five before moving up to Darlington when his father's job relocated. In chapter 2 he writes; "In 1964, aged 5, I began primary school. The fire station - where I was initially tutored - was just a short walk from home. Huge great red sliding doors opened to the spacious interior which was used to house the fire engines, and off to the right was the small room with high windows that was our classroom."Now, I know Vic can have an odd sense of humour but does anyone know of a fire station that existed in 1964 in the area he describes? I can't recall one. The Cookridge station didn't appear on the scene until many years later and in any case is hardly "a short walk from home".

As for Leeds comedians perhaps the current Leeds United squad qualifies!
