My Dad fished with the White Horse on Armley Town St..Nigh Acaster' Baker' (see bread threads). On Sundays they gathered on Stanningley Road,by the buses and pubs, and boarded a curvy Sammy Ledgard coach. The back seats had gone, replaced by wooden stacked crates of beer. Alien enviro for launching an adventure for me as a Kid. Sergeant Bullock attended. As did a smooth old card called Tommy: he was no Tommy Ruff. The exploring really took off on alien river banks. At least infinitely better than B&W TV.

When every pub and club had a fishing section and Sundays throughout the coarse fishing season was inundated with coaches taking members and supporters on their matches . I remember in the 60's going on a match on the Swale. The coach picked us up at 7am and off we went ,stopping off at the Black Bull pub in Boroughbridge for breakfast and about 4 pints before going back on the coach which dropped us off at the match stretch! Happy Days, no longer with us and not affordable these days I think!

Fishing with Dad . My (equally car mad as me) pal tags along. We are in Nunmonkton I think, scenic village green etc. Loads of fisherfolk blokes. The pub had opened at first light. Selling beer, no sign of a .bobby on a bike. The pub, named after some nag, is printing money, it's fish in a barrel all shot. The same pub sells the requisite day-tickets. There on the village green, around 1970, shaded be a huge tree, away from the ducks, is the landlords car. This car is metallic red, beautiful, light years away from the English biscuit tin scene. It stylishly, still, glinting, space-tech wheeled, no understating the logo> Lamborghini.

Named after the mother of two Derby winners going back to the 1700's I think.
Daft I call it - What's for tea Ma?
