JD There was a very good 'Beaver' cut out of the side of a washing machine as though the animal had chewed it, was that him? No Jogon. I think you're confusing him with the sculptor Bill Woodrow.

I've just been watching "Antiques Road Trip" on BBC2. This week's programme included a mention for Owen Bowen (1873-1967) a painter who was born in Leeds. I must admit that he was unknown to me. There is some mention of him online but can anyone supply any further information about him?

Owen Bowen was a member of the Savage Club who met in the centre of Leeds and then became a member of a group of artists who leased a property in Barwick in Elmet, which became known as "The Attic Abode" for their use at weekends He was probably the most prolific artist of the group and was exhibited widely. An exhibition of his work was held in Collingham, where he lived for many years, in 1958 to mark his 85th Birthday. Every exhibit sold very quickly.More information about the Attic Abode and its other members can be found on the Barwick in Elmet Historical Society's site at www.barwickinelmethistoricalsociety.com . Click on"Articles on the Parish's History" then on" Literature and the Arts". The Attic Abode is then the 7th item down

An excellent find Barwicker. Bowen and the other "aboders" certainly look to have been members of a thriving arts society at the time.
