It was Kirk Gate on this threadhttp://www.secretleeds.com/forum/Messages.aspx ... essage=100& again http://www.secretleeds.com/forum/Messag ... eadID=3513 That's the one; thanks uncle mick. And here's what I was referring to: Kirk Gate wrote: Si,Thanks for the correction ( I'm suffering from information overload!) I'd forgotten about the Dyson's sign on the gable and not put two and two together about the skulls! However, the best bit on your post is the Dyson link with Lower Dunsforth as this family are known to me but I was not aware of their connection with Crown Street! Now looking forward to a very interesting evening in the Angler to discuss the return of the sculls. Many thanks for this gem of info!Kirk Gate     Kirk Gate has vektor listed as his website on his profile. Let's hope he comes back with more info for us.

If the pub gets permission and goes ahead,I have a proposal for Secret leeds. It is that we approach the current owners of the site where the skulls are and offer to buy them.We then present them to the pub to be placed inside somewhere with a suitable plaque recording their mythical story and who donated them.I am personally willing to stump up towards it if others think it viable? Edited to remove figure<G>.
Steve JonesI don't know everything, I just like to give that impression!

I like the idea Steve and will support it, but perhaps better not mention figures in public lest the owners see it and adjust any price accordingly!

Happy to contribute a (smaller) sum if this takes off.

This is a brilliant idea - I'm happy for SL itself to contribute cash, and could cover the whole cost for them if the price isn't too crazy.

This is great news, but I really hope the owners are going to revive the historical and unique 'Crown and Fleece' name.Regarding the skulls people may recall (details on part 1 of this thread) that I spoke to the owner of the skulls. He was adamant that he wanted the skulls left where they were - god knows why. appealing to his better nature, and indeed applying any logic or reason, was a waste of time.
there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

Yes I remember that drapesy; it was very disappointing. I've always been of the opinion that the people at Ion Dyson realised there may be some monetary value in the skulls for there could be no other reason to hang on to them. Having said that, I would have had them taken off that building and put into safekeeping if that was the case. Whether they were entitled to remove them from their original site is another matter but we have to deal with the situation as it is and an offer to purchase might suit all parties.Artefacts are worth what people are prepared to pay for them-there's no Glass's Guide for stone skulls! I don't suppose anyone is acquainted with anyone who might hazard an educated guess? Cheers for your efforts cnosni.
