Lovely Thirties-style 'font' on this one. The name half obscured by the new hoarding says 'McKennells' -with the words 'dry cleaners' through the centre.I suspect the word 'SUITS' will be found under the Nowell View sign.the rest reads: PERFECTLY COSTUMES DRY CLEANEDLONGCOATS 2/3 TAILOR PRESSED"McKENNELL PRESSED IS WELL DRESSED"For those unfamiliar with 'old' money 2/3 means 2 shillings and 3 pence.

there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

Tetley Bittermen? "Ready when you are, Bob" (Tets mild.) Does anyone remember the un-PC John Smiths ad where two furnace workers invite their new Asian workmate to the pub after work. Cut to pub, and the new chap downs his pint in one. One of the lads says, "Blimey! You'd think 'e were born 'ere!" The Asian guy replies, "Ah were, lad....Ah were."They certainly don't make 'em like that anymore!!!CheersSi

It wasn't THAT bad.

I also remember one - I think John Smiths , and I,m pretty sure it had Brian Glover on it. Anyway 3 walker's in the dales sit down to rest - one is facing towards the fells the others are facing the opposite way looking towards a nearby pub. Conversation goes along the lines of 'isnt it a magnificent sight?" "you wouldn't find this outside Yorkshire" "down south its all flat and boring" etc. eventually one says" anyroad lets get on" camera" pans out to show one walker heading to the fells whilst the others head for the pub.
