In a report about Leeds Bradford Airport on page 22 of the YEP today (Jan 31 2014) it states in an 'Airport Factbox' that the airport is 5681 feet above sea level. That makes it over 1000 feet higher than Ben Nevis and over twice the height of Ingleborough! It's clearly a error that amuses me.

Wiki states "The airport is also the highest in England at an elevation of 681 ft (208 m)"

Have enjoyed reading about the Y.E.P. on here. When they were in Albion St (?) in the 1960s i used to dabble buying and selling cheap cars. the only night worth while advertising was a Thursday and as i used to buy at Rothwell auctions on a Wednesday afternoon this meant there was no chance of an advert until the following week. someone tipped me off a way round this, i would go down at about midnight and round the back of the offices was the Night watchman / Security man, you gave him the written advert and 20 Senior Service fags and your motor appeared the following evening. plus i found out that putting "A" before the Ford Popular .etc. meant your ad. appeared at the front of maybe 100 adverts for motor cars. Happy days..... in spite of being summoned to the Tax Office in the Headrow opp. Schofields to explain my extra unearned income. (That another story)

A story in t'YMP about plans to resurrect the failed water bus scheme betwixt Clarence Dock and Granary Wharf...www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/news/lat ... 32725Given that no one used it before, probably because you could walk it quicker, it remains to be seen how they plan to make it work. The riverside is hardly picturesque is it? Lots of generic flats or offices and the back of the Asda building?
