on a side note. Ian Clayton in his column last week in Yorkshire Post mentions putting mustard on a bacon sarnie. i have never contemplated such an idea even though i love both bacon and mustard but love mustard on a sausage sarnie.Anyone actually put mustard on bacon sarnies or get them done that way in a cafe?

Mustard on Gammon everytime but on bacon butties it has to be HP.Lets move on to the ultimate.........Fish and ChipsxxxIst time I had them was from Hillycroft Fisheries, circa 1960. My Gran and Grandad owned it, bless them for that amongst many other things. The price list was Fish 8d Fishcake 4d Chips 4d and some time mid 60's they branched out into peas. Entrepreneurs or what/Nowadays the best you can get can be had from the Mermaid in Morley near Asda.I live near Fleetwood and travel regularly to feast in Morley

I have been going into the Heaven coffee shop/cafe up from HMV lately ,very nice and friendly and if you go in before 10:30 thy give you a free Danish Pastry or porridge!I am amused by there advertising man who usually stands down near WH Smiths clutching a large sign pointing up to the shop,it occurred to me the other day that pointing the way to Heaven would make an interesting entry on his CV <LOL>.

LB's Cafe at Cross Gates is destined to close "in the next couple of weeks" - staff weren't saying much more yesterday, but it will be a sad loss to the area as it was the last 'proper' caff in the area and does / did a very decent breakfast at a reasonable price.I'm fairly sure the owners are the people that had the Derrisford at Seacroft Centre before that closed.

Is that the one near the traffic lights in Austhorpe Road (opposite the carpet shop) - it has a small raised section at the back.? If so I'm very sorry because I've had some really nice "proper" lunches there occasionally.

Your comment reminded me of their excellent 'home made' steak pie, chips and mushy peas - that was a proper lunch!

Incidentally it was a very faded and dull dark green for its first few years in the role (been there a long long time) and was a Nottingham City Transport double decker when it WAS a bus.Very recently another long established cafe has disappeared - this time a red single decker which was on a layby on the right on the A58 between Collingham and Wetherby. We went to the Red Bus for breakfast this morning ... or tried to.It's closed with a 'To Let' banner across the front (call 07960249946 if interested)
