On a bus (as a passenger) I've only seen it in a couple of places and on foot I've also seen it in one other place in the centre of Leeds. They do seem to have stopped on the periodic crack down in these placesA653 Dewsbury Road between Jack Lane East and West as Dewsbury Road is/was diverted under the motorway. Cars pulling too early from the main carriageway into the bus lane to take the left into Jack Lane West.Bus Box/Lane at the bottom of Park Row where it feeds into City SqThe Headrow Bus Box/Lane between Albion Street and Upper Basinghall Street which means normal traffic should go down the former and back up the latter.

I notice from the next round of bus alterations from the end of this month (October), they are adding extra minutes to the buses up Otley Road, i.e. 6, 97, X84 they are adding extra minutes to the journey's, so presumably that they can quote extra time saved by the Folly Buses.Don't forget 31st October, get you objections in as soon as possible.

Unbelievable isn't it? Their own report shows savings of just a couple of minutes over a normal bus, they take a pasting for the lack of improvement given the massive cost of the project and suddenly normal bus running times are increased. Didn't I read somewhere that this grandiose and ill founded scheme is to operate with twenty trolleybuses ?? If so they've obviously no idea of how such a small number of vehicles would provide any sort of meaningful frequency in both directions on the sole route.    Unless all maintenance was done either at nights or on lesser Sunday timetables, and there are no delays or breakdowns, this cannot work.

"Oh look how much time it will save now..!"It's like the worst excesses of Soviet Russia Same old story Ravey, it's insulting to peoples intelligence really. I sometimes wish people would wake up and smell the coffee at times. It allows these kind of people to get away with these scandalous ideas. It reminds me very much of when I worked at Royal Mail, the complete nonsense way they manipulated things to suit themselves. Upon wanting to scrap the 2nd delivery and shed 30,000 jobs. We had a year of absolute twaddle fed to us and the media.*Royal Mail loose a million pounds a day! headlines. We were told for every letter we delivered, we lost a penny on it. So to gain public support, and approval from the government to axe second delivery, and those jobs. They fed out this nonsense to get it through.Upon being told this garbage in a team meeting, I said ok, if your loosing a penny on every letter we deliver, it's simple. Put up the price of a stamp by 2p and then you make a penny profit.OH OH>> Er, OH... stutter... erm..We can't do that said a very red, frustrated and increasingly angry looking area manager... Why can't you?? ...No I said, I bet you can't. You'd rather sack 30.000 people instead, and please don't try fool us you loose 365 million pounds a year. We aren't stupid, no company can sustain that lose. Anyway they got their way, just as L.C.C will get their way with Trolleyfolly with their manipulated lies. Funnily enough only weeks after scrapping these jobs Royal Mail were making 'record profits' as if by magic.

Just out of interest, what will happen to the bus lanes on Otley Rd if trolleybus goes through? If wired and wireless buses share the same lanes, they'll need to have some pretty high wires so they don't interfere with double decker buses. If they don't share the same space and the bus lanes aren't extinguished, that's an awful lot of underused road.

They'd have to have the wires at least 5 metres / 16ft 6in about the road to allow clearance of other traffic, but they may lower this on the exclusive sections (smaller poles = save money = not chance to allow double deckers). To call this scheme a white elephant is unfair to elephants of any colour.

With the enormous amounts of money involved and the miniscule benefits apparent perhaps it is time to rechristen it the "Lollybus"?
