You're all correct of course - and I'm sorry if I came across as a bit 'precious' I honestly didn't mean to. I was concerned though, because the 'what and where' competition seems to ellicit responses very quickly (within minutes sometimes) but here there was no response and I was worried it had been forgotten.I do enjoy so much on this site (and enjoy doing it for my own sake, as you say Phill) - and ignore the rest,Sorry Folks!
there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

When I mentioned there were 25 gas lamps still in existence in Leeds, this meant actual gas lamps that are lit by gas. I nearly put that but it sounded a bit daft! There'll probably be countless original bases with replica lamps though. Brilliant pictures by the way! Next time I'm out in Leeds I'll have a look at those by the Pack Horse and The Ship. Hopefully in the dark so I can see them lit!

Here's one from Little King Street, on the corner of Quebec House, at the back of the Hotel Metropole. It doesn't look like it's in working order though, and seems to have replaced by a floodlight next to it.
