Reld gas lap on Dolphin lane,ThorpeThanks guys.........excellent work/picture.That is indeed the one......I don't know much about dates but this one looks particularly old. There is some kind of inscription up the length but unfortunately the ravages of time(RUST) have made this illegible.Would be interested if any local historical society(e.g.Morley) could shed further light(pardon pun) on this..........

Somme, had a look today and it is an old electrical standard, looks like an old Morris and Every column, these date from early 1930s. Sorry to disappoint you but they are still quite rare. They were used a lot in Leeds for Street Lighting but very few if any still exist

Quite sad to see the wall has come down now between Queen Square and Clay Pit Lane. This wall would have had two or three original "half gaslamps", but now the wall has completely gone along with the what remained of the original gas lamps within the wall. The wall was crumbling away in all fairness but seems quite a shame.

My flickr pictures are herehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/phill_dvsn/Because lunacy was the influence for an album. It goes without saying that an album about lunacy will breed a lunatics obsessions with an album - The Dark side of the moon!
