I was talking to a colleague at work yesterday and the conversation came round to St Ltg Dept. We both worked for this dept many years ago as part of our Highways duties. He worked in the Alley Re-flagging the area outside the Ship pub.He tells me that the single working Gas Lamp actually ran on Methane, this gas was piped from the sewers,he assures me that there are others in Leeds that use Methane. As you are well aware the LCC St Ltg Dept was shut down and went out to privatisation.Unfortunately the vast knowledge that the work force had went with it,unfortunately some would say "that's progress"I have to disagree.
