Another where is this.
It's been a while since we had a where is this so I thought I would post this painting of a street / property somewhere in Leeds. I saw this painting in an online auction and thought I recognised the scene and after researching I was correct in my assumption. I realise it may be difficult to locate, I used to live 2 mins away in the 1960s so had an advantage. There is a pic on Leodis taken from the exact same angle. I think this property was demolished1970s/80s although I could be wrong. I will leave this for a while and then give clues if nobody guesses correctly.

I don't really know either area but 2 spring to mind. The Belle Vue Road area of Burley or Richmond Hill?

Hi Tyke Bhoy, thank you for your guesses. Not a million miles from Burley / Belle Vue rd, however I will give a clue, the picture is of property in Woodhouse but now long gone.

The photograph is of Johnston Street (off Woodhouse Street) between the Chemic Pub and Woodhouse Ridge. The steps lead up to Ganton View.

I enjoyed this W&W
. Looking on Leodis I came across a photo dated 1970 that seems to be a view at the same site. 2012118_173180

Hi MiggyBill - to be fair, I was born (1946) and bred in Woodhouse and lived about 300 yards from this location and went to Quarry Mount School (a short distance away). As a child, I used to play on the steps and climb on the wall in the photograph. Also, with my friends, I used to play on Woodhouse Ridge which was a short distance away. In later years, I used the Chemic Pub and was also a member of the Chemic Angling Club which was founded by the landlord, Cliff Peel along with my father and grandfather in the early 1950's. I moved from Woodhouse to Cookridge in 1958. Ian
