I feel inspired to make a brief return to posting on this competition.Actually, I have posted this picture before, a long time ago, on Secret Leeds, but it seemed to sink without trace!A lot of you might know WHERE this Angel of Leeds is, but I am more interested in the WHAT & the WHY??? Those of you who know it, will know that it is in a strange place, or perhaps not in its original place. Does anyone know its history. So this time, it's what? where? & why?

Style-wise it looks early 20th century - is it something to do with the First world-war ?

Could it be the winged image of victory rather than an angel?

Brandy wrote: whats the dimensions of this remarkable artifact munki??. It's about two foot high, I would say, though I am rubbish at guessing these things! Check it against the ivy leaves surrounding it, for size!
