This is a photo (taken Oct 26 2012) of a building in LS1, but where is it? As far as I could readily find out this does not seem to have been the subject of a 'What & Where' thread but my apologies if it has. Perhaps some crypticness from those who do know it.

Your "peering up" is so true as I nearly broke my neck looking up to get the photo. Oddly, I've passed the place many times but I've never noticed the date and carvings. I did not though see any "russians", unless that is a cryptic clue that I don't get!

High above Rutland across from where a white swan used to roost in days gone by. But like somme1916 said earlier, there has been a revolution down the road since then. And not quite south of the river, but getting closer.

I'd be flogging a dead horse to suggest there was an Old Parrot nearby ? Once saw a Hobgoblin there too, not any more...

As indicated by salt 'n pepper, it is Rutland House on Call Lane. This photo (taken Oct 26 2012) shows much of the building (I could not get it all in view due to its height and the narrowness of Call Lane!).According to some information that I've found part of the building at least is an occupational health centre, but I don't know if that has any current connection with the Leeds related carvings.
