ManxPhil will have been hamming it up when he took the photo at that location. And may even have visited the 'Lloyds of Leeds' - forget those names in London - office on his way back into the city.

That will presumably be the Lloyds Arms pub. It must be many years now since it closed.

Wonder if there is scope for legal action against First for continuing to run buses to 'Middleton Arms' which of course no longer exists.Tesco - if indeed they are to be the incumbents of the space created by the former pub - would love the bus destination board to cry out 'Middleton Tesco Express' which after all would be a bit of a misnomer what with all that traffic up Dewsbury Road.It does pose a different question however. How many other public houses have had their patronage 'advertised' by first LCT and now First?I have to say that I cannot think immediately of one, although all of a sudden I seem to have 'Fleece, Horsforth' voices in my head.

The Chained Bull has also gone, seems that supermarket car parks make more money than pubs, so it would be M&S Moortown now. It's a few years since the 2 Dewsbury Road and 3 Middleton services started there.
