Where is it, and what's the history?

This carving is over the door of a central Leeds pub.In case not clear it says 'the Black Lion'.I'd never heard of it.

It's near the Scarborough taps? Think it's on the lost pubs thread. Our Phill has pics of it on there with a Tetleys sign!

I thick i'm going mad, was the 1970s film premier for the film Agatha starring Dustin Hoffman, Vanessa Redgrave and Timothy Dalton held in the Plaza?

Not sure 'bout that flickerfree but there were plenty of other non-local themed,entertaining and "colourful" films on regular show at that particular location(allegedly)......

I was at Harrogate Art College when this film was being shot (1977-78 ), and remember watching the filming at the Old Swan Hotel.I managed to get Vanessa Redgrave's autograph, but only after she insisted I buy a copy of Socialist Worker from her!

I think the première of Agatha was at the Hyde Park cinema. I think it had featured in the film.
