The year is 1960.The place:- Headingley. For a young lad fancying Fish & Chips, where else but Bryan's on Weetwood Ln.Normally a fleeting moment. Gone. For keeps, forever. But this event was caught on film by Cyril Ramsden (luckily not 'Harry'). It's now on YFA Online 'Frying Tonight'.The film opens at Bryan’s fish and chip shop in Headingley, Leeds, where Bryan is mixing up the batter. He dips the fish into the batter before the fish is placed into the fryer. Next, he places peeled potatoes into a chipping machine. A sign in the shop states: ‘We are now frying Best North Sea Cod 1/6 per portion.’ Bryan takes the cooked fish out of the fryer and then places it in a heated compartment to keep the fish warm. A "smartly dressed boy" comes into the shop and is served fish and chips which have been wrapped up to take away. In the meantime, a long queue has formed behind him. But who is this lad? Is it you Phill, Cardie, all?I've enclosed a photo capture. The Gannex coat cuts a dash.Does anyone know said lad? Could he give his version, and hello if you're reading.

My mam was the cleaner at Bryants in the 60s. I was thinking some one took a candid photo of me way back when I use to go to work with her. But thinking on, no way a lad from Burley would own a coat like that.High light of a trip to Bryants was to visit the blacksmith's next door, warm in winter, chip machine in action and the fish and chips of course.I will have to ask mam about the local celebs who went there, seem to remember telling me of a few colourful characters
