If this http://www.leodis.org/display.aspx?reso ... ifier=1397 on Leodis is correct it is somewhere close to where the Co-op or its car park now stand. Opposite the church.I lived for over 5 years in one of the houses visible on Cross Flatts Crescent but didn't realise they had been there since before 1903.

My source was 1920's Geographia map. Lists the fold on pp55 of the maps which is well below the old lane junction, but fails to name it on the map........

Parksider Leodis says there were 14 folds in beeston and my first thought, before googling, was that it was close to where the WMC club was just past the Chapel. I ams sure there was still is a fold there too.If I recall correctly in the latter years of the old style co-op there was a tunnel between it and an annexe possibly an emergency generator close to the 29/74 bus stop. there was a plaque on the wall (I don't think a blue one) but it mentioned Beeston village and possibly a fold. that tunnel must have been just about exactly where the Leodis picture says Websters fold was. It is almost 10 years ago and I didn't pass that specific spot very often so my memory isn't all that clear

There were five cottages numbering from the left 1 to 5. From 1917 until 1945 a craftsman shoe repairer named Harry A. Benge lived at number 5, and he continued his business there until 1956 when the row was purchased by Leeds City Council and demolished. Mr Benge repaired football boots and running shoes for Leeds United football team. He also bought outgrown football boots from families repaired and restudded them and sold them cheaply. The farmyard of Wood's Farm was situated behind Webster's Fold and the stables adjoined number 3 and ran parallel with Town Street.

Found this Whilst looking through stuff various....

Tried twice to add pic but no joy, it seems to add the attachment and gets as far as the cropping/resize stage but after pressing the finish key the next screen says no picture attached, never mind what I was trying to add was a couple of pages from a local history book which fully describes all 14 folds plus a 15th fold at Beeston Royds I also have a picture of Benges cobblers shop mentioned in brunels post. If anyone is interested I will happily e-mail file.Regards kango
