Have we had this one before from Leodis:Mill Lane, rear of North Street, with side view of Golden Cross pub.Confirms that the pub was at the bottom of North Street where indicated I think. http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... SPLAY=FULL

The Golden Cross was at 191 North Street, the Midland Bank was at 195 North Street if it helps.

Not all streets work in odds and evens Lee. Even some of the new streets are numbered in a funny way. I can recall several in North Leeds like that. (Not sure it is much better now!)Grafton street for example had through houses that were oddly numbered but also had the number of the street at the back of them so they were on two streets. How did the postman cope!?

I'm not certain but it looks to me (based on uncle mick's excellent map) that the Golden Cross pub was where the large mound is in this photo that I took on April 22nd 2012. The old Midland Bank is just off on the right. The blossom on the tree at Plumb Center is colourful.

It's too far away for it to be there, don't forget the road was at least half the width of what is now.It would have been in the middle of the road and mill lane would have been where the mound is. (I think!)
