Something that intrigues me about the "We sell owt" shop is the first floor windows.comparison with the link posted by Uncle Mick shows the building now has the more uniform triple arched windows on the first floor whilst the photo posted by Phill shows rather large plate glass type windows on the first floor. Were the large windows a false front when it was the second hand shop then ??

I suppose the gathering's not so much secret as but a lot of the things discussed probably are. Don't be surprised if the place is full of strange looking characters with laptops.

I have vague memories of going into 'Combat Sports' on Boar Lane in the early 80s, I think it was on the wane as the kung fu / Bruce Lee craze of the 70s was petering out, I know they moved to North Street for years later, but they are gone now. Boar Lane then kind of had the look of Kirkgate now... Decrepit! We used to get the throwing stars as nippers to terrorize our enemies with but they were [edited for content] cr4p (?!?!) in reality (unless we was chucking em wrong). I recall a line in blowpipes we also bought there. A lot of the stuff we use to just improvise on, we'd make darts for the blowpipes out of needles with a bit of wool tied to end as a flight then dip the end in common toad venom we'd get just by pinching the glands on the side of the toads head (no we didnt hurt or kill them - the toads I mean) till a little drop of white fluid appeared. Wicked stuff cos the slightest hit of it would bring on a horrible nausea that would have our victims (usually ourselves) retching and foaming at the mouth. Also there were crossbows we made from knicker elastic and sharpened garden canes that would pierce the flesh of an unsuspecting youths bum cheeks as we lay in wait on the vicarage field during the summer hols. I was almost blinded by a shot from one of them black widow catapults. There was a shop next door to where ID moved to on Station Road that sold like Doc Martens and grungy / alternative indie rock t-shirts in the late 80s / early 90s. I cant remember the name of it. We used to buy loads of stuff there. I think I also preferred Leeds before it got poncified and became an aspirational place to live for anyone but the original residents. Bleeding students and suverners etc . What ever happened to Leeds and the Bomb? Surely that would have been the ultimate makeover....! Heh heh heh!P.S, on review of what I've just written it might appear like I was bezzie mates with Peter Sutcliffe or something in my formative years, I can assure you I wasnt (I think).

I don't think it was all demolished & "frontage bolted on". Some of it wasThe development of the south side of Boar Lane is just as mixed. In 1993 three self-contained properties known as Equity, Sterling and Bond House were redeveloped behind Grade II listed frontages, they are collective described as The Bourse. Equity House faces Bank Street and houses offices, Anthony’s restaurant and shops facing onto the street. Sterling House contains offices and has a mirrored curtain wall facing Boar Lane which is very striking, it has been used in several Leeds tourism campaigns. Bond House contains offices and a couple of shops facing onto Boar Lane and New Station Street. Copied from here:http://alexinleeds.com/2010/11/19/lost- ... boar-lane/
