OK... since Martin seems to have gone AWOL (maybe the CIA have 'silenced' him for publicly revealing their secret plans to invade Leeds???).This is Martyn's description of the location..."The site is at Hesco Bastion, concertainers on Knowsthorpe Way in Cross"Green near City Services tip, sorry Waste Transfer Station."I think PhilD was closest... but I am going to have to ask you to be honest & say if that is where you mean. I have only ever walked out to Thwaite Mills a couple of times (great little museum, by the way, for anyone who hasn't yet made the walk).I have a good pic lined up for What & Where? #19 now, so will be happy to post it up.

This is the google image from 4-5 years ago & the cross is where the base is.. It must be new as it's not on the old image.

That's the other side of the river I think. The Sea Cadets' gun is the one that used to be on the little island by the armouries. No tank there as of about 3 weeks ago.Hesco Bastion are on the Cross Green Industrial estate. They make protective containers for the armed forces. I guess the military connection is why they have a tank on display. It's right at the far end of the estate.

I have marked the spot on this image. It's north east from the sea cadets place. 53°46'47.69"N 1°30'1.70"WThere are a few other items there as well. There is a large howitzer type gun, a Harrier jet and various other ex military vehicles. The entire field marked belongs to this company and also another compound over the road, next to the scrap yard.
