I know what you mean Rikj - the removal is a bit of a puzzle - but it might not be sinister(In fact I'd go so far as to say I'd be very surprised if it was). Someone with a better knowledge of trade union history than I might know - I've spent a while on google looking it up but its very confusing -there seem to have been myriad organisations (Leeds Jewish Tailors, Pressers and Machinist Union, Manchester Jewish Tailors, Pressers and Machinist Union, Ladies Tailors, Pressers and Machinist Union, General Tailors, Pressers and Machinist Union etc etc ) - often not clear if they're separate unions or branches of the same organisation - add to that various amalgamations - leading to the present GMB in 1991 when the last union exclusively for workers in the clothing industry (the National Union of Tailors & Garment Workers !)became part of the GMB.
