What is the furthest point North visible from Leeds, and where from?

How well do you know Leeds?

I wished I'd have had one of these amazing catapult nets they use in Spanish squares! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oR9d8kl1pjA

If not Shadwell it is one of the northern Leeds suburbs. Sorry if I'm being vague. The view from Otley Chevin can be spectacular on a clear day, and you can see the White Horse at Sutton Bank from there which looks to be around 30 odd miles to the north-east as the crow flies. As always with these things you need a clear day - the haze today has been terrible for instance. Often a crisp, clear winters day provides the best view.Of course, JMW Turner saw the Alps from there, but they are obviously to the South so not relevant to this discussion... You can of course see the moon Ravey from Otley Chevin on certain nights. Sorry for my poor attempt at being humourous :-). Just boredom.

You can see Ingleborough from Mountain near Queensbury and I'm told that on a clear day you can see Kinder Scout to the South. You can certainly see Ferrybridge Power Station from Morley. In fact you can see quite a long way North from where I live. Some of us get our TV from the Billsdale (Tyne Tees) transmitter because we're below Emley Moor's range. I suppose from Britannia Road in Morley you can obviously see Emley Moor, but also the Castle at Huddersfield and vaguely Saddleworth Moor.

You can see the lights on Bilsdale TV mast from the A61 between Alwoodley and Harewood, even from the 36, on a clear night. The Kilburn White Horse is visible a lot of days as well. The Minster is also visible to the East along there.
I like work. I can watch it for hours.

The eighth tee at Scarcroft Golf Club is on the same side of Syke Lane as the clubhouse but further uphill towards the junction with Blackmoor Lane/Bay Horse Lane. The holes at Scarcroft are individually named - the eighteenth is Sir Robert Blackburn, the aircraft designer who figures prominently on other threads on this site - and the eighth is named White Horse, because the White Horse at Sutton Bank is clearly visible from the elevated back tee.

I looked east yesterday from the Trig point at Billing Hill Rawdon. There's a very tall tower block and two apartment blocks next to it which are dominant on the hill above the valley - so they do not look to be in Leeds centre i.e. Bridgewater PlaceLove to know where they are whilst people are looking!!.Otjerwise I'll trace them this week!!

Is this the end of the story ...or the beginning of a legend?
