How well do you know Leeds?

I, too, agree with you wholeheartedly Phill. Two examples spring readily to mind - the former Market Street Arcade (now being redeveloped and more than a year late already) and the almost indescribably ghastly "Core" in the Headrow (there was nothing wrong with previous nearly new centre with its tasteful gold and green) - I'm sure Mr. Snowden Schofield must be turning in his grave !!
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

I hope he really is turning in his grave, the old goat. The damage he did to Leeds heritage is beyond calculation.

Agree about the shopping centre pre Core. What was wring with it?It was bright and airy and more to the point, occupied by retailers. The present layout is nothing more than a series of corridors stacked one upon the other, and empty corridors at that.Rip it up and start again.

To say I guess all those town 'guess where's' I seriously never go in town if I can help it. I've heard about this 'core' being an awful place loads of times on here, but never had an idea where or what it was till now. The last time I did go in the Schofields centre it was the green and gold that Blakey talks about, I too thought it looked ok and even quiet interesting with the lifts going up and down. They just have to ruin anything half decent don't they, what is wrong with these people, and how do they ever get in these high places to do this damage in the first place?

This is a photo I took on May 14 2012 showing a view looking up Albion Street from near Boar Lane. Compared to the photo from around the same place that I took on April 1 2012 there has not been that much change (only the addition of some metal flooring is obviously different).

This photo (taken May 14 2012) can be compared to the view in my first post looking up at the underneath of the framework. Some flooring and a 'Low Bridge' sign are the only obvious changes since the April 1st photo. I like the 'Low Bridge' sign.
