two questions - where's this and, for 2 bonus points, what is the word that once preceded "Tailors" and has been subsequently removed?

I don't know where the building is but the missing word is 'Jewish'. You can just make out the W in the image. Would that place the building somewhere off North Street where the Jewish community in Leeds first settled?

You're quite right Martyn - I didn't think anyone would be so 'eagle-eyed' to make it out from that pic but would have to have seen the original!!.Anyway here's a better pic - I'm not giving out any location clues though!!!

Yes spot on Rikj - I thought you might know this one - nice signs though - here's the one on the opposite side. I assume the organisation changed its name at some stage and so the word 'Jewish' was removed.The union is mentioned in this article which says it had c1,800 members at the turn of the 19th/20th centuries.http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/view. ... 1&letter=L
