Probably an easy 'Where?' but with an unusual view.

I took this photo on June 3 2012. It will be an easy 'Where?' for most (if not all) but it may get those who do not immediately know it a good think! I was taking some shelter from the rain and noticed the interesting view (well I think it is! ).

Calverley Street, you're in the Town Hall and that's the side entrance to the library o'er t'road. There's still a working, but unused, portcullis in that entrance to the library. There's a metal plate covering where it was raised from the cellars, before the doors were put in, and you can still see the grooves on the sides of the entrance.
Sit thissen dahn an' tell us abaht it.

It was the somewhat photogenic view of a commonly seen building (the library entrance on Calverley Street) that I liked.I often use the Calverley Street access/egress to the library and have never noticed a metal plate covering an unused portcullis. That is most interesting and I shall have a closer look the next time I pass through there. Thanks for that.

That entrance to the library is something of a star of the small screen, in it's own little way. It's deputised several times for various "ministry" buildings in Whitehall, particularly in YTV productions and notably in The New Statesman.
