I was once lucky enough to go on a Town Hall guided tour that took in the 'opposite' to the underground cells - i.e to the top of the tower. Fantastic view and well worth doing. this was about 20 years ago - does anyone know if you can still do it?

Yes they've started the tours again Drapsey. This is the info munki has supplied.Sundays between now & the middle of February. You can find out, & get to see the cells (as well as the marvellous old Victorian courtroom), by phoning the city centre box office on 0113 2243801.

Sorry - these tours on Sundays do not include the clocktower. But really, if you want to see it, you just have to ask me...

I've put this pic on for Jane so she can see how many bums they can get on seats.     thanks for that, been at work til 9pm, so catching up with all the new posts, makes a nice change to see a few more than normal.

The wife and I decided to take one of these tours with our son. looks good, but wished it did take the clock tower in. when you say, "all you have to do is ask" do you mean the photo's, or can you pull strings? I hope the latter..

It fulfilled some similar functions to the Town Hall over the years, Court, Council Meetings etc.It wasn't on the Town Hall siteStuff on here about it :http://www.leeds.gov.uk/discover/discov ... _591381252
