Does anyone remember The shop called Union Jack near the market I bought my first fishtail parka from them. I can remember when Victoria Quarters was an open road with just a handfull of cloths shops and a Pizzaland at the top end near Briggate. When I was little and my mam used to take me to the market for the weekly shopping, she would always say to me that if I was to get lost I had to make my way to Millies- this was a lovely pie and pea stand somewhere near the bottom end of the market. I also remember walking through the butchers row with my mam and dad and having a crispy bacon sandwhich in a cafe that was situated in the middle of the market, sorry I cant remember what it was called.Again watching Leeds Utd on a Saturday would consist of having a few drinks in the 15 toes ( Three Legs) then next door to the Vine then onto Smith and Nelsons, we would move down to the Viaduct and try to catch the last P2 bus that would take us to Elland Rd.Does any one remember the pub called the Precinct all the top boys from the football would end up in there after the game and then usually smash it to pieces, I have fond memories of watching it all happen, little did I know how much I would cherrish these things.I have two little girls now and I want them to be proud of where their Daddy was born and bread, I look forward to the day when they come to me and say that they are going up to Leeds for a night out and to visit their Grand Parents.
