Good point, any objections to shifting it somewhere more appropriate? *flexes admin fingers*

I was up at Killingbeck cemetery today visiting our lasses mams grave.Anyway to cut a long story short i managed(after 2 hours lol)to track down the grave of David oluwale.Ive always had it on my 'to do' list to visit the poor guys grave and im glad i did. Heres a map of roughly where it is if anyone's passing and fancies paying some respects to him.

Its just up on your left, past the church. The grave itself backs on to the woods.

How's this for a true story.?Not very long after the Oluwale case, the Police Federation of Leeds Social Section, hired the comedian Charlie Williams of Barnsley fame. He appeared as their guest at a social event. On being introduced by the events compere, Charlie made his entrance onto the stage, wearing a set of childs, inflatable arm swimming aids.!! " You b**gers aren't to catch me out", he said jokingly. However, the gag was entirely lost on the astounded audience. Immediately, a senior officer approached Charlie, and escorted him off the platform. He was ' paid off ' there and then.

I remember the case and if I remember rightly he did jump in the river. Wouldnt you if the two policemen who had hounded you for years were after you. The trouble is the River Aire is not a river you jump into even if you are a strong swimmer with hidden objects and currents. I dont think he came up when he jumped in.It would be interesting to know what his death certificate said if he had been beaten up a few times. It was a sad case at the time but racism still exists in Leeds whether its from the Police or the public. People will always pick on someone who is different to what they class as the 'norm'.I go back to Leeds often and am surpised of the racism from people I class as friends. Unless your family go back 150 years in Leeds you are not classed as a Yorkie???
