I've done a new website, all my own. It's about free / cheap ways to have fun in Leeds. Celebrating things made in Leeds by people from Leeds. Have a look....http://www.pilotlightleeds.co.ukLet me know what you think, or any suggestions for any good free / cheap entertainment or fun to be had in the city which I could add / celebrate on there.

Hope you don't mind, but couldn't you adjust the screen size to fit the entire screen, instead of the smaller window in the middle? Looks good overall though, well done!

That's looking good Munki. It's also a good idea to help people enjoy ''cheap, honest'' entertainment/ goods away from the fat cat greedy commercialism. Granary Wharf was at one time a great place for people who wished to give up there 9-5 jobs they hated, and try make a living through selling there own ideas and goods. Local artists, crafts and such like. I like the sentiments you have raised here. I'm very much against capitalism, and the need we have to take jobs we dislike for material gain. Yes, good on you there! The site looks easy to navigate although you have yet to add a lot more material, A few small pointers i would pick up on are, the opening screen isn't too clear you need to click on the writing to enter the site. No doubt there will be a few folk waiting for something to happen there and then.. Also the name Pilot light, my first thoughts are it would be some form of British gas advert perhaps, It doesn't give the impression of what the sight is actually all about. These are no way negative comments, It's just a little feedback that i'm sure your asking for, you obviously have a great interest in the subject. I think a name more like 'working class hero'' or something along those lines gives a clearer idea to the site contents. Also the text seems to have embedded a little funny in places, The 'O's seem a little strange. It's early days and i'm sure you will whip the site in to good shape as you go along. If you need any help/ideas give me a shout! I have a nice little picture you might like to use on there. cheers

Thanks for the comments, everyone. re Phil's comment about their needing to be a lot still added to it - of course I hope this will always be true! Please send me your suggestions of things to add - maybe good little local traders (Simon, I know this is something that you have raised on SL before), that could go in the shopping section...The screen size is set to the smallest commonly used monitor size (inc my own). I am kind of testing on other monitor sizes, but only having one computer myself, this is taking me a while.

Thats a great site. I hope people will contribute and add to it. There is nothing like this at the moment unless you look on websites that show you how to pay an arm and a leg for a small meal and a warm pint. Which I hasten to add is not my idea of fun!

Thanks, LS1 - that was pretty much my idea! Not to say that I think the websites you mention are bad in their own right... but I wanted to highlight that there are other ways to have fun in Leeds that don't inolve spending an arm & a leg! If you have any suggestions of shops / places / events that should be featured, let me know.

Ever noticed how much people buy before one of those rare days when the Supermarket will be closed - even allowing for it being Christmas or whatever? Next week they're back, having realised that all that supposedly 'fresh' stuff they bought only lasts a couple of days and is now in the bin!
