Avoiding the use of capital letters so as not to scare students!

It is reported on page 9 of the Yorkshire Evening Post today (Nov 20 2018) that lecturers at the school of journalism department at Leeds Trinity University (LTH) in Horsforth have allegedly been told in a memo to avoid using capital letters in case it scares students 'into failure'. LTH has defended the memo.
I know that the lack of use of capital letters has become quite common in recent years, though it does irritate me. I did not though think that using them might scare students!

I have noy lived in Leeds for many years, so please excuse the question, but is Leeds Trinity university one of those, like London Metropolital university, that used to be a college mainly aimed at hairdressing and bricklaying?. It certainly sounds like it if that report is true

I believe it used to be Trinity and All Saints College at Horsforth.
Hope I got the capitals in the correct places.(:

As usual with these clickbait "political correctness gone mad" type stories, it turns out that the original piece was a little creative with the facts and, in face, nobody has "banned capital letters" at all. Quel surprise.
