I don't know if anyone here uses Google earth a lot but i do. One of the big gripes about it was it was 4-5 yrs out of date with blurry images, Anyway i've been using it the last few days & only just realised the whole Leeds area has been updated with far better quality images. The aerial imagery seems to have been taken from last summer as you can see Monkbridge works has been flattened. Most of West Yorkshire has been updated too!

It is Steve.. It's from the subterranean homesick blues video where he holds up the L.H.E.S strike again! card (not)

Had noticed that. I saw my car had suddenly appeared in my drive, and then for a split second thought it was in real time!

It's pretty good quality isn't it? i'm impressed.. It still makes future explores look easy but it's always different when your on the ground, As many cuts & bruises testify afterwards!

Most of West Yorkshire has been updated too! doesn't look like it has extended to wakefield yet. The white rose centre has definitely been updated though. YThe original images had a fun fair on one of the car parks on the ring road side. The new image has the car parks almost completely full of cars.

No it's very much like a patchwork quilt at the moment Tyke boy. If you get the darker image usually in the built up areas then you've got the new image. The lighter one is still old. You can spot the difference easily

Good spot Phill - this'll keep me occupied for a while. One sad thing - the old images showed several cricket grounds where matches were actually in progress( e.g. the old highbury ground, Horsforth C.C behind the old ball, Parkside Lane in Meanwood, etc)and you could even make out players - none on the new ones though it would seem - they must have been taken at the 'wrong time'.

Well i'm sure there be plenty of new things to find Drapsey... There was one instance of some kids getting on a school roof & painting a huge swear word that no one knew was there untill it was spotted on Google earth, They had to touch up the image to get rid of it,, Lots of business's have cottoned on to this idea though with adverts popping up on roofs all over the place!

One of the things I used to conclude Wakefield hadn't been updated was the car park at Outwood railway station. On Google earth it is more than half empty but on weekdays it is full from before 8.00 until after 5.30. So I had already concluded the images were either early morning, late evening, weekend or bank holiday. The first two could be ruled out from the length of the shadows and the last two would be consistent with days/times cricket matches would be taking place.
