Photo's taken in Leeds by the French photographer Marc Ribaud were discussed in SL threads a few years back. There was an exhibition of his photos in the Leeds Museum about 2008. He died recently and his obituary was published in the Telegraph today

It makes interesting reading and explains how he came to be in Leeds:
"Capa sent him to London for a year to learn English. He failed to do so, though Cartier-Bresson kept a close watch on him, sending him lists of books to read and warning him not to be corrupted by the conservative British. Riboud replied that that was unlikely given the abundance of signs telling him to “Keep Left”. He got his break when Capa bullied Picture Post into letting him photograph conditions in post-war Leeds on the basis that Riboud came from “another awful industrial city”.
